Re: GAY RIGHTS

The courts say otherwise.
But tell you what. If DOMA is constitutional, then why isn't the
Massachusetts law unconstitutional?

I tried watching the swearing in of the new House for the 112th Congress. I couldn't stand it. Standing on the steps outside the House, was one of the greatest collections of career liars, thieves and thugs ever publicly assembled, sprinkled with a few new-comers who probably believe they are actually going to affect a change in the District of Criminals.
By the end of January, these newbies will have been thoroughly indoctrinated and will have had the law laid down to them about how things really work in the District. The newbies will resurface along about February with their talking points memo's in hand and will dutifully be spouting the party line and will have totally dismissed any notions they may have had about "changing" the way the District does business.
Next I tried to watch the changing of the Speaker of the House. In these moments I am always amazed at the ability of the players to stand in front of not only the House members, but the American public thanks to all the camera's present, and to deliver vacant and pointless speeches, the words of which sound like they should mean something….but really don't.
Nancy Pelosi had the gall to speak about defending the Constitution. This from a woman who has single-handedly violated the provisions of that document on so many occasions it is staggering. Now she thinks the Constitution should be defended. Apparently Ms. Pelosi suffers from some form of congressional Alzheimer's or maybe she just has selective memory.
John Boehner took the gavel as he assumed his new position as speaker and talked about "openness, transparency and honesty". Words I believe were taken from Obama's now infamous remarks during his campaign. Yeah…..I'll be looking for John to deliver on that one.
The grand coup' in all of this, the zinger meant to incite the public, to make the American people believe was a new day with new leadership that was really going to listen to the American people and a leadership that held the Constitution in high regard, promising to uphold it at all times …….was the reading of the Constitution on the floor of the House. While this reading of America's most historical and profoundly important document was read, congress men and women chatted with one another and I believe a few might have napped.
Not one congressmen, not the outgoing speaker or the incoming speaker, said one word about repealing any of the egregious assaults on Constitutional rights and protections that were contained in numerous pieces of legislation that they themselves, in many instances, voted to pass
Having watched these stage shows put on by both the House and Senate for more years than I care to admit, I was none-the-less taken back by the unmitigated gall, the phony posturing, the vacant speeches and remarks that were capped with the reading of the Constitution. Call me cynical, but I get the uneasy feeling this was some kind of insider joke. Maybe this is Congress's idea of fun. I don't know.
Here's what I do know: We have allowed ourselves repeatedly to be conned by people we elect to office. We believe the speeches and the declarations, but once they are in office, they forget who they work for. Or maybe they never had any intentions of working for us to begin with.
The truth of the matter is that no matter what their intentions, corporations, lobbyists and other forces that we are just now learning about pull the strings. The fact is, we are subsidizing a political body that has ceased to be anything other than the facilitators for corporate takeover of all parts of our lives while subjecting us to agreements with foreign governments, international bodies and foreign organizations, populated by people who have no interest in seeing this country thrive and survive.
My question is this: Why do we continue to pay them?
After all, if you look at the money trail attached to each and every bill you see that they all garner millions in funding from the corporations who run the government; a donation no doubt meant to influence their votes.
I did not hear the out going speaker or the new speaker make any mention of ending this influence buying by corporations, and it was never mentioned either before or after the reading of the Constitution.
Speeches and vacant promises aside, there will be no change in the District of Criminals. The only thing that has changed is "who holds the gavel".
This is my life. I make the rules.

Religion of peace' launching 'ferocious' attacks
So analysts are expressing alarm that individual attacks on Christian churches are being replicated rapidly and appear to be reflecting a new wave of Islamists' war against any stability in the Middle East.
Recent al-Qaida attacks on Christians stretching from North Africa to the Middle East and Central Asia reveal a new terrorist initiative that not only attempts to eliminate remnants of existing non-Islamist religions but hits hard at "soft target" opportunities, such as praying Christians in Egypt, leaving security experts off-guard.
Analysts say the orchestrated attacks against Christians – from Egypt, Iraq and Nigeria to Russia's mostly Muslim North Caucasus of the Ingushetia region bordering Chechnya – initially were thought to be random.
However, the killing spree now is being viewed as a coordinated pattern of attacks representing a new and higher level of violence.
The Vatican had been expressing alarm for some time, with Pope Benedict XVI describing as "ferocious" the terrorist acts that were launched in October when some 58 Iraqis were killed and 78 wounded in an attack on the Syrian Catholic Cathedral of Baghdad.
The October attacks were an act of "unheard-of ferocity against defenseless people joined in prayer," said senior Vatican official Archbishop Carlo Marina Vigano at a recent general assembly meeting of Interpol in Doha, Qatar. Interpol, or the International Criminal Police Organization, helps facilitate police cooperation internationally.

Let it Snow, but Clean it Up
One of the signature moments of the Bush administration came when the federal government failed to immediately react to the carnage caused by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. As you'll remember, President Bush seemed lethargic about the death and destruction, and the media buried him because of his lackluster posture.
But we now know that the president could not have seized control of the situation because he was not asked in by then-Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco. Bush could have appeared more engaged in his public pronouncements, to be sure, but legally, he could not exert federal authority unless state authorities officially asked him to do so.
Now we have the great blizzard screw-up of 2010 in New York. The day after Christmas, a storm dropped about 20 inches of snow on the nation's largest city. That's spring break for places like Moscow, but in NYC, chaos almost immediately broke out.
Based on solid reporting by The New York Post and other media, it now appears that members of the city's sanitation union may have sabotaged snow removal because of anger about budget cuts and layoffs. More than 10 percent of sanitation workers called in sick the night they were most needed. Two adults died, and a baby was born in a vestibule and later died because emergency workers could not get through the snow.

Political Persecution At Its Worst In Small Town USA
By J.B. Williams
January 8, 2011
NewsWithViews.com
No laws were broken, there is no victim, there are no witnesses and there isn’t even any complainant… in short, there is no crime - yet two citizens have spent much of the last year being arrested, brutalized by law enforcement, by prison inmates and by the press, run through a corrupt criminal justice system operating on pure political vengeance and jailed. For them, the story isn’t over yet…
The tale of these two men can be summed up with a number of valid punch lines – political prisoners – soft tyranny and undeclared martial law come to mind. If you think it can’t happen here in the USA, or that it can’t happen to you – then you don’t know the story of Walter Fitzpatrick III and Darren Huff.
Fitzpatrick is a retired career Navy Lt. Commander who correctly believes that Barack Hussein Obama is the wrong man for the job of Commander-in-Chief. His opinion of Obama is shared by millions of Americans, though few are ready to charge Obama with acts of treason, as Fitzpatrick did in his small East Tennessee town almost two years ago now.
That effort resulted in uncovering years of crime and corruption within the Monroe County justice system, which became the new focus of Fitzpatrick’s ill-fated initiative to return at least his small town to ethical government, as least within the broken justice system.
Huff is a Georgia preacher who traveled to Tennessee in support of Fitzpatrick after learning of Fitzpatrick’s case on the Internet. As Fitzpatrick attempted to affect a legal citizen’s arrest on Gary Pettway, a career jury foreman in Monroe County, (note the legal problem with that term, career juror), a few supporters were in attendance, armed with nothing but video cameras to chronicle the event.
Fitzpatrick and Huff were both charged with crimes for attempting a citizen’s arrest of corrupt officials. Since then, both Fitzpatrick and Huff have been dragged through a corrupt criminal justice system and both remain under political persecution today.
Yet, when finally standing before a Monroe County Judge, charges for everything except “interrupting a meeting” were dropped, as no evidence against the men exists. They intended to interrupt the meeting that day, as that meeting was illegally convened. The only weapon present was a video camera.
There was no crime – there was no riot or attempt to incite riot – there were no victims – there is no evidence against these men – there was no threat of violence. Yet these two men remain stuck in a corrupt criminal justice nightmare and the real criminals continue to operate in Monroe County, unchallenged.
Fitzpatrick just finished serving his 60 day sentence for interrupting a meeting, in which he was trying to affect a citizen’s arrest of officials in that meeting. Huff appeared in Federal Court on January 4th, where the judge refused prosecutors’ request to revoke Huff’s bond and warned prosecutors not to waste the court’s time on frivolous pursuits.
Huff will go to trial in federal court on April 12th, facing charges that are based upon events that never actually happened in Monroe County and laws which do not apply. Huff did not storm the Monroe County courthouse with an AK-47. He was pulled over entering Monroe County, due to his Oath Keepers decal, and when asked by state police, made police aware that he did have an AK-47 in the tool box of his pickup - The proper and legal method of transporting a privately-owned rifle.
Charges against Huff are falsely based upon the Commerce Clause. However, Huff was not transporting weapons for sale or trade. He was transporting his personal weapon. Police let him go, with the AK-47 stored properly in the locked tool box of his truck. When Huff arrived at the court house, he was armed with only a video camera.
The small group interrupted a meeting, as they attempted to affect a citizen’s arrest of officials in that meeting. Tennessee has strong citizen arrest laws and Fitzpatrick was playing by the book.
The only show of force came from Monroe County Sheriff Bivens and deputies, who physically assaulted Fitzpatrick as they took him into custody.
The ongoing political persecution of both Fitzpatrick and Huff continues largely due to intentional misreporting by local news agencies. If you think it can’t happen to you, think again.
These men were convicted by the local press long before they ever entered a court house. To hear local reporters tell it, these two men make Charlie Manson look like the Pope, and Monroe County look like Ruby Ridge. Nothing could be further from the truth. Monroe County is more like Deliverance…but not due to Fitzpatrick or Huff.
According to reports from local legal defense offices, nearly 70% of the local community lives under direct court supervision and threat of terror, charged with a litany of minor offenses and local law enforcement is personally profiting from moonshine and meth lab operations, among other illegal activities.
But it is Fitzpatrick and Huff who remain entangled in the Tennessee criminal justice system, all as a direct result of pushing political interests that are highly unpopular with the current administration and its so-called Department of Justice.
It’s called soft tyranny, and political persecution. It has happened to them and it can happen to you. But who’s watching and what will anyone do about it?

Fwd: [I-S] CBS: Obama Eyeing Internet ID for Americans
From: Scott J
This baldly Orwellian idea is one way to make "fishy" utterances known
to the Feds, I guess. Okay, another test for the new GOP majority in
the House, then. Let's see if they stomp this with alacrity, or find
some sort of weasely compromise. They're off to a good start but this
sort of thing will keep on coming, and their fortitude will be sorely
tested.
(But I'm a little surprised that Obama wants to talk about "trusted
identity." Ahem, you mean like a birth certificate, hm?)
And: Given Gary Locke's ties to China, I'm not sure I'm more
comfortable with Commerce leading this, insofar as it is possible for
anyone with a shred of individualism in them to be comfortable with
the government doing such a thing.
In recent years, governmental overreaches of this sort tend to be
kicked to the curb once or twice, and then quietly slipped into law in
the next crisis. The similarly-aimed "Know Your Customer "
regulations which bind financial institutions to report transactions
to the Federal Government were originally promoted in the Clinton
years as an anti-drug-dealing initiative, and soundly rejected at
least twice that I recall. They ended up being approved in the wake
of 9/11 instead, tacked onto other "anti-terror" legislation. Your
bank rats on you now; it must.

Posted by Declan McCullagh
STANFORD, Calif. - President Obama is planning to hand the U.S.
Commerce Department authority over a forthcoming cybersecurity effort
to create an Internet ID for Americans, a White House official said
here today.
It's "the absolute perfect spot in the U.S. government" to centralize
efforts toward creating an "identity ecosystem" for the Internet,
White House Cybersecurity Coordinator Howard Schmidt said.
That news, first reported by CNET, effectively pushes the department
to the forefront of the issue, beating out other potential candidates
including the National Security Agency and the Department of Homeland
Security. The move also is likely to please privacy and civil
liberties groups that have raised concerns in the past over the dual
roles of police and intelligence agencies.
The announcement came at an event today at the Stanford Institute for
Economic Policy Research, where U.S. Commerce Secretary Gary Locke and
Schmidt spoke.
The Obama administration is currently drafting what it's calling the
National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace, which Locke
said will be released by the president in the next few months. (An
early version was publicly released last summer.)
"We are not talking about a national ID card," Locke said at the
Stanford event. "We are not talking about a government-controlled
system. What we are talking about is enhancing online security and
privacy and reducing and perhaps even eliminating the need to memorize
a dozen passwords, through creation and use of more trusted digital
identities."
The Commerce Department will be setting up a national program office
to work on this project, Locke said.
Details about the "trusted identity" project are unusually scarce.
Last year's announcement referenced a possible forthcoming smart card
or digital certificate that would prove that online users are who they
say they are. These digital IDs would be offered to consumers by
online vendors for financial transactions.
Schmidt stressed today that anonymity and pseudonymity will remain
possible on the Internet. "I don't have to get a credential if I don't
want to," he said. There's no chance that "a centralized database will
emerge," and "we need the private sector to lead the implementation of
this," he said.
Inter-agency rivalries to claim authority over cybersecurity have
exited ever since many responsibilities were centralized in the
Department of Homeland Security as part of its creation nine years
ago. Three years ago, proposals were were circulating in Washington to
transfer authority to the secretive NSA, which is part of the U.S.
Defense Department.
In March 2009, Rod Beckstrom, director of Homeland Security's National
Cybersecurity Center, resigned through a letter that gave a rare
public glimpse into the competition for budgetary dollars and
cybersecurity authority. Beckstrom said at the time that the NSA
"effectively controls DHS cyber efforts through detailees, technology
insertions," and has proposed moving some functions to the agency's
Fort Meade, Md., headquarters.

Re: {Tea Party Patriots} the debt limit
How I would save the country: Amendment XXVIII - Restoration of the Republic Amendment

Any bank notes in the future shall be issued purely by private banks for non public purposes. The Congress of the United States has no authority to delegate matters of currency to any institution which shall do so by the issuance of notes or electronic equivilent of notes.
Unless you are counting social security and medicare/medicaid I think that number is erroneous. As the CBO projects that social security, medicare/medicaid and interest on the national debt will consume every dollar raised by the federal government sometime in the 2020s or 2030s (don't remember specifically when but we can look it up) it is clear that the other entitlement programs take up a major portion of the budget. BTW, they are now 'projecting' that care for our returning veterans will cost 1+ Trillion dollars sometime in the next couple of decades. Not sure how rhey come to that but it is something to be concerned about, especially if they are using this as a reason to apply Obama-care to veterans.
