I am not surprised at this editorial in the NYT - they are trying to cover up their reasons for publishing these leaks and others

The NYT seems to think that these leaks justify their releasing the
US diplomatic and military secrets. Not in my opinion. I would really
like to see them prosecuted for these releases to the nth degree.

Unsurprisingly the commenters don't seem to see much if anything wrong
with releasing secrets to the enemy. What is wrong with these people.
