Troops of Pakistan Army are relentlessly carrying out rescue and relief operations in flood hit areas across the country. Army troops rescued 75 critically stranded people at Sajawal through helicopters and also provided cooked food to 20,211 people and medical treatment to 4500 people in relief camps at Thul, Sajawal, Shikarpur, Thatta and Daddu in last 24 hours. Army is facilitating the stranded people with train and bus services from Quetta -Daira Allah Yar and from Allah Yar to Thul in cooperation with other Government Agencies. Army Engineers have restored roads links between Sindh and Balochistan. Pakistan Army has dispatched four C-130 planes carrying tents, packages dry rations and relief goods to Quetta for further distribution at Daira Jamali and has dropped dry ration packets through helicopters in areas of Usta Mohammad and Gandakha. Army Field Hospitals and mobile medical teams at Quetta have provided medical treatment and medicines to more than 35000 affected people of Balochistan. Similarly Army Engineers have opened the road links of Kot Buzdar after hectic efforts and also repaired the road Shikarpur- Jacobabad for traffic. Army Doctors have established a 12 bed Field Hospital in Chachran near Rahim Yar Khan. Army is also assisting World Food Program in the distribution of food among the flood affected people. Army veterinary Corps has treated and vaccinated over 70,000 cattles.
So far, Army has transported 9, 4800 liters of fuel at Gilgit-Baltistan by C-130.
