You can do this at home : the BP well leaked a reported 4,9 million barrels of oil into the gulf of Mexico...each barrel had 55 gallons...each gallon is 231 cubic inches of fluid....multiply that out....then compute the number of CUBIC inches in a CUBIC mile....compare the two results.....you will learn that it would take 408 BP wells like this one to leak enough oil to equal one CUBIC mile of oil.....The Gulf of Mexico has millions of cubic miles....were you snookered by the environmental hysteria in the media about this well ?
