Flakey Republicans
Flakey Republicans

Rep. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) has just introduced H.R. 5536. This bill would "allow individuals to designate that up to 10 percent of their income tax liability be used to reduce the national debt, and to require spending reductions equal to the amounts so designate." Spending reductions? Sure. How many times have we heard that. This is just another flakey Republican scheme. If Jeff Flake was really concerned about cutting congressional spending, then he would have voted against all military appropriations for Iraq and Afghanistan and not just start questioning these wars now that Obama is the commander in chief.
Flake recently voted against withdrawing U.S. troops from Afghanistan (H. Con. Res. 248) and for extending the Patriot Act (H.R. 3961). Yet, he is called "one of the more libertarian House Republicans." See the latest copy of The New American's "Freedom Index" here.
